Emoji CASE

Do you have a friend like my friend Anita?
She has been on a roller coaster of friendships with me.... We met at church, we have known each other for at least ten years. We have had our ups and a few downs.  More ups... Her wedding was fun, planing a community garden plot another, learning to cook curry and make roti, a love of dogs, sharing once in a lifetime experiences with my kids and so much more!

We have disagreed on a few things too... But to call it fair... We have advocated for each other too. Cheers for new jobs, accomplishments, milestones and tears for loss of loved ones and when we moved away. She did not let us go easily, she was that one friend that pulled up with her truck and loaded up and delivered a load to our new home, she bought our first plant for our new garden, she knew my new garden was empty of bulbs so she dug hers up and split them with me, she listened to my kids play instruments, atrended school performances and had been a main outside supporter of my charity work whether it was Relay for Life, GFWC, Girl Scouts, or hired me to make her Christmas cards. We are both people that let our emotions out first, maybe to a fault, but what do we care?  We both put as much effort in as we feel results and the Lord works in mysterious ways because the more he gives us the more blessed we are.

One of Anita's good habits is how if she has the time she will drop by in her way through town, how when I call her because one of my kids ran away because they failed a class for the very first time, she dropped what she was doing drove two hours in traffic helped me wait that child out and tell her that we all fail at stuff but you can't run away you have to get back up and succeed!
On one drop by day she and her hubby Tom filled a mug full of flowers from her bountiful garden. A small gesture of kindness that was a blessing. I had not seen her in months, life was busy and time was short for both of us. Yet, her small pit stop created an interesting branch off of our friendship. You see the yellow smiling mug became a game. If we could not always see each other we would at least fill our Friendship Cup and randomly leave it on the others doorstep, or stop for quick chats and hugs.  She has blessed me with bounty from her garden, and I have returned with the same or I have cheated and hit the Enchnated Florist and the ladies there will fill my cup and I know they have picked blooms that will last forever!

This the cup was last delivered to me months back, before the summer began. I forgot it on a day I dropped by..her home . It was on my countertop back home yelling for me. But I was too busy to remember it. Or so I thought... Another visit in June, then a run in in July and still I forgot that darn Friendship Cup.

Yesterday she and I had a day planned to go to a tea room. While my intentions were to just return that cup filled with candy that has diminished over the summer, I decided to refill or refuel that mug. I bought a second bag of Kisses and made a few Cards to accompany the mug!

I came across the inspiration via Pinterest, but when you click on her link... You will see that the creative woman also gave tips and directions so you too can create your very own Emoji cards
Here they are on my craft space:

You Made My Day

I Heart You

Happiness Always

To You From Me

All together:

Do you have a friend that you can share all the Emoji Faces with and still call them a friend? Well I have to brag that I have a few... But Anita has taken the cake on more than her share.. That rollercoaster of life of hers can be summed up with Emoji's.

Supplies used to make my Emoji CASE's
Basic Black Cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock, Daffodil Delight Cardstock, scrap paper from my pile of possibilities,  Circle Punches, And Many More stamp set, the Brick Wall Embossing Folder, Mini Heart Punch, and a few Stampin' Dimensional's.

Happy Saturday!

Play date turned surprise party...

Jeanne & Kathy Jo Surprised me GOOD!

I am blessed to have a few friends that agree to play dates...
You know the kind where you seriously play!
Play with all the toys and tools that make things pretty!
I am not talking makeup!
I'm talking stamping and crafting tools.

Jeanne and Kathy Job are angels in my play group of friends,
I confide where my technique weakness lies and they've found a solution or two or three for me!!!

Friday morning I was up early,
over packed and ready for Kathy Jo to pick me up by 0630.
She pulled up,
popped her trunk,
 I threw in my bags,
waved goodbye to my family...
smiling from ear to ear!

The drive was about catching up,
hearing about grandkids,
giggling over silly things that kids do,
and filled with anticipation for I was about to learn to....
Da.. Da.. Dun:
Watercolor!

Its not my thing,
I have periods of trying new techniques
but when I fail
I give up!

Kathy Jo and Jeanne
are very talented and promised to fix my issues!

When we arrived in Manteca...
it felt like home
(I lived there for 14 years... so much has changed and yet has stayed the same)
I love the people!
I miss my church, my friends and my regular spots!
(I will admit to a stop at Del Taco or Weinerschnitzle... there are more must stops)

But....
today was a focused playdate
Jeanne & Jim welcomed us with huge hugs,
a house that smelled like heaven
a table set with flowers,
pencils, pens, crayons, and paints.

SURPRISE!
The flowers were for me,
Jeanne found me a set of pencils,
she bought me some Gamisil,
pre cut some glossy, matte and water color papers
and guided me on how to use Tortillons!
(Mackenzie has a ton of these, I find them all the time at home)
Followed by:
A cup of the famous Murchie tea!
A slice of coffee cake and a phone call turned FACETIME adventure with some cutie patooties!

We jumped into sharing projects and cards we had each done since talking last...
as I played with each medium...
it is SO MUCH EASIER
when you have friends to cheer you on!

A few months back Kathy Jo shared a video where a foam sheet was used as a mat.
She shared that with the group and she and Jeanne pulled out all the tools to add dimension!
SO COOL!

Here are a few photos of all we tried:

We each used pencils.. I used my NEW LYRA set!
Gretchen made this card... Going to case this!
(Took photos of inside and instructions!)
Jeanne shared her tools to make this!!
Adorable!

Here is my loot... going to make these into cards today:
Of course we looked through the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog...
more than a few times...
we picked what I should order now...
and what they will order September 1st!

We took a lunch break for BLT's
and a huge slice of Pineapple Angelfood Cake.
So yummy!

Our day came to a close as KJO and I needed to return home...
but here are my completed projects!

Thank you Jeanne, Jim and Kathy Jo!
Love you all!
Blessed to call you friends/family!

The morning after... The Redneck BBQ

Oh my goodness, the things we do for charity! When I say FUN I mean it... Even though we did not find a couch and toilet for the front lawn... We did get a little decor around the back yard that created a sense of fun that had us all fall into character!

As I have often bragged before I am a member of GFWC Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club. It is a large group of ladies that tackles many projects to support our local communities, state, and international projects. Each member has their gifts and passions and this allows us to work together to accomplish a common goal. We try very hard to keep the overhead low. Each year we have our own personal fundraiser that is not for the tax write offs... It's to boost our administrative fund. That way all we raise all year long does goes directly to the cause.

Our Talent Auction was designed just for this purpose! In the past I have bid and won  zoo packages, theater tickets, hand seen kitchen towels, holiday centerpieces, gift cards, plants, photography and more. I have always donated plants, handmade cards, and this past year I joined my friend. Lisa and we also donated a elegant brunch. It was a success so we wanted to offer more and we, ok I decided that we would offer a Redneck BBQ. I thought giving it a fun theme would add some trashy yet classy touches!

If you meet Lisa you will see that she is a fun and kind hearted person that rarely says no! Kinda reminds me of myself only she makes me a better person! She and I threw the day together with ease, and although we did not have the full 12 guests that we offered to feed we had 7 guests that brought smiles, laughter and fun to our night.
The favors...

The backyard take one:

Check out the flowers aka weeds we picked!

A lounge area!

Must feed the birds!

Found the lights and the fly strip at OSH!

Did a majority of the shopping at Walmart!

Had to put this on the front door...

These two are so silly!

Told ya!

Matthew tp'd the yard with these stremers... I had these in our party decor bucket for 15 years.. Score!

Star usually occupies the lounge chairs!

A few of our guests getting the pre- BBQ snacking on!

We raised some money for a great cause,  yummy drinks, ate some grub and laughed!

Love,
Cary
